Complete Your PCV Medical Examination with Qualified Doctors
Maintain safety-critical approved driving with a PCV medical at D4 Medics. Our PCV driver medicals can be described by some drivers as a PSV medical, and are offered to professional bus, coach and minibus operators with flexible appointments available to individual drivers and also fleet organisations.
What is a PCV Medical
A PCV (or PSV) medical is a compulsory examination of health that a driver is required to take when operating a passenger carrying vehicle like a bus, coach and minibus. This DVLA D4 medical examination evaluates whether a driver meets the physical and mental standards necessary to safely transport passengers in safety-critical environments.
The review examines the important areas such as cardiovascular health, eye standards, blood pressure, neurological health and medical history to determine any risk that can interfere with safe driving performance. The provision of a PCV medical test is a proven medical test of fitness to employers and licensing authorities in aid of conformity with DVLA medical standards and accepted road safety practice.
The PCV driver medicals at D4 Medics are undertaken with the necessary accuracy in clinical decision-making providing unambiguous certification that assists not only in the safety of the driver but also in regulatory compliance.

PCV Medical Renewal and Driver Eligibility
PCV drivers should possess the following medical requirements in order to stay safe and in compliance with licensing regulations:
- Applicants of licence to carry passengers or upgrade to such a licence have to undertake PCV medical examination prior to application or upgrade. This takes care of medical suitability to professional driving duties.
- Current drivers need to undergo regular PCV medical renewal tests. Frequently drivers are medically examined after the age of 45 as per DVLA Group 2 requirements and the renewal of the licence.
- Since the age of 65, medical examinations are generally taken every year in order to ensure that people remain fit to contribute to safety-critical positions.
Compliance: All drivers should adhere to employer health standards, DVLA Group 2 medical standards and recognised safety principles in professional passenger transport.
PCV Driver Medical Requirements
Drivers are expected to come to their appointment with the following items in order to have a smooth and efficient assessment:
- PSV / PCV medical form (D4 form)
- Valid photo identification
- Prescription driving glasses or contact lenses.
- Data on history of existing medical conditions and taking of medications.
- Information about other consultants at the hospital you frequent.
- Recent height, weight, smoking, and alcohol history (if available)
Note: Drivers with certain medical conditions may require additional evaluation before certification, depending on DVLA medical fitness guidance.
